What Country Do We Want To Visit The Most?

Iain

When thinking about this question I can see that my answer has changed over time, when I was younger I couldn’t see past visiting or living in America, influenced by visits from my family who had made the move.

Then as I got older Europe appealed to me more. I have had the opportunity to visit quite a few European countries now and they each have their own appeal. My favourite European destination is Italy and specifically Florence – we visited here on our honeymoon and had an amazing time.

To answer the question – If I had to pick a country to visit now it would be Japan. From reading other peoples blogs and watching Vlogs on the country the culture and lifestyle look so different to how we live in Ireland. After watching Vlogs showing the experience and being an avid seafood lover I also would love to go to a proper Sushi restaurant in Japan one day.

I think I struggled with this question more than Iain. I thought about narrowing the world to one spot, and realised it just wasn’t that simple. Did I go with Bora Bora, a part of the world I’ve wanted to go to since I was 12? Or exploring the 50 states of America? What about Japan, like Iain mentioned, or India, Cuba and Switzerland? How am I even meant to pick a continent, Let alone a country!

In the end, I’ve chosen somewhere we’ve been to before – Italy. We spent two weeks in Italy for our honeymoon, but I just feel like there’s so much more to see. We barely scratched the surface of Rome, and I’ve wanted to go back to Florence since we left. I want to explore the Amalfi coast, rent a villa in the Tuscan hills, walk through the streets Milan and check out Lake Garda. The food and drink, the wealth of history, and the quintessential Mediterranean laid back attitude draw me in. As a history lover, foodie and warm weather seeker, it’s pretty much my ideal location.

Where would you love to explore next? Let us know in the comments below.

Until then, stay safe and keep planning the next adventure!

  1. Italy every time. I’ve travelled a lot and although I’ve loved every place I’ve been to, except one, time and again my thoughts return to Italy. As lockdown begins again and as we think of the risks of travel especially for the older, more vulnerable (me) it is Italy that I long to return to, for the warmth of its people, the food, the history, architecture and all round feelgood factor. Parts of the Caribbean may be beautiful but in many parts the welcome is muted or not there, parts of the United States are awesome but one never feels safe in a land awash with guns, the South Seas are fun but after a while even white sands and turquoise seas can become monotonous, Asia has many charms but also lacks charm in many places, but Italy ………… it’s a no-brainer.

  2. We loved Italy…especially the Lake Maggiore area! We would return there in a heartbeat. There are so many places I’d love to visit outside my home country of the United States. Up next on our out-of-country bucket list is France…or a trip to the Christmas Markets of Germany or… How could I possibly pick one?
